It often forms in cubic or octahedral crystals, and can also be found in massive forms. Pure fluorite is colorless, but trace impurities and natural radiation give it its vibrant hues. It exhibits a vitreous luster when polished. A notable characteristic of Fluorite is its fluorescence under ultraviolet light, often glowing blue, a phenomenon named after the mineral itself.
